Sicily

sicilySicily is the largest island of the Mediterranean.
In addition to Italian which is the official language, most of inhabitants speak also the sicilian, language coming from Latin with influences from Arab, Spanish, French and Italian.

Its capital is the town of Palermo. The island is marked by many civilizations which settled there during the history: Greeks, Romans, Norman, Arab, Spanish... they left there their print in architecture, the habits, but also in the Sicilian dialect.

Although marked by tourism of mass and constructions anarchistic on certain coasts, many areas remained picturesque. The inner land sometimes desert contrast with the coast, moreover most villages underwent an important exodus since the beginning of XXth century.
